About Spr. Ebenezer Johnson
Son of Mrs. J. Johnson, of 4, Rahiri Rd., Mount Eden, Auckland, and the late W. R. Johnson. Born at Auckland. Served in Egypt, 1915-16, at Gallipoli, and on the Western Front, 1916-18.
A TRAGIC END FOR A RETURNED SOLDIER. Sapper Ebenezer Johnson of the New Zealand Engineers Divisional Signals Company fought at Gallipoli, the Western Front and Egypt. He was the son of Mr. W.R. and Mrs J. Johnson. He died by his own hand on January 12th 1921.
Ebenezer Johnson, a single man, aged 36 years, was found dead at his residence to-night with a gunshot wound in the heart. A pea rifle was found beside the body. Deceased was a painter and signwriter by occupation. Source: Evening Post (13 January 1921, p. 7).
