About Spr. Kenneth Ritchie Murray
Kenneth Ritchie Murray was born at Whanganui in New Zealand on 24 December 1886. His parents were James Fraser Murray and Mary Ann Murray (née Robertson) who had married at Dundee in Scotland on 24 September 1863. The couple had emigrated to New Zealand on board the 'Arethusa', arriving on 7 December 1879. Kenneth served with the New Zealand Engineers during World War I. He was wounded in Belgium, and died of those wounds at the No. 2 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station on 26 November 1917. Kenneth was buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, [XXVI. A. 13.] (bio by Debbie McCauley, 21 January 2024).
