Stanley Deser

Stanley Deser (March 19, 1931 – April 21, 2023) was an American physicist known for his contributions to general relativity. He was an emeritus Ancell Professor of Physics at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts and a senior research associate at California Institute of Technology.

He was born in Równe, Poland which today is Rivne (Rovno), Ukraine. His parents were Nachman Lejb Deser (Norman) and Marjam (Miriam). The family left Europe in 1941, escaping the Holocaust, eventually settling in Brooklyn, USA.

His autobiography, "Forks in the Road", was published in September 2021.
