Stanley Richard Husmann, 79, of Blackduck, Minnesota, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji, Minnesota.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Blackduck, MN with Rev. Fr. Luis Buitron officiating. A visitation will be held Friday, the 27th from 6-8:00 PM with a prayer service and rosary at 7:30 at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Blackduck. Burial of cremains will be at the Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck, MN with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #372. Urnbearers will be Britney Syth and Ryan Husmann.

Stanley was born on June 8, 1929 in Melrose, Minnesota, the son of Bernard "Ben" and Walburga "Wally" (Weiber) Husmann. He attended the Blackduck School.

He enlisted with the US Navy on February 20, 1948. He served at Pennsicola, Florida and Corpus Christi, Texas. He was honorably discharged February 19, 1952 with the rank of SKSN, Store Keeper (Seaman 1st Class). After his discharge, he worked at the Blackduck Creamery from 1954 to 1957.

He married Marion L. Theisen on September 28, 1957 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Blackduck. They then moved to San Jose, California for a year where he worked making fiberglass boats. They then moved to Minneapolis, MN, followed by Willmar, MN, and again to Blackduck where he worked at the Blackduck Creamery Coop where he bottled milk, and was butter maker from 1959 to 1965. At that time, they moved to south Minneapolis where they spent the next 29 years. There he worked at the Minnesota Soldier's Home from 1965 to 1968, and worked for over twenty years as the Stationary Steam Engineer for the Minneapolis Grain Exchange from 1968 to 1991. He retired in 1991 and they moved to Long Lake northeast of Bemidji, where they lived until 1997.

They spent 13 years traveling to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico from 1991 to 2004. In 1997, they moved to Blackduck again, and have lived there since. He spent the last 2 years at the Good Samaritan Society, Blackduck.

He was a member of the American Legion post #372 of Blackduck, The International Union of Operating Engineers 49, Local Union #70, and the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Blackduck. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching baseball on TV, and he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Marion Husmann of Blackduck; 3 children, Bernie (Julie) Husmann of Wasilla, Alaska, Brenda (Stan) Syth of Post Falls, Idaho, and Brian (Vikki) Husmann of Zimmerman, Minnesota; 7 Grandchildren, Jamie, Courtnie, Cassie, Britney, Casey, Ryan, and Krystin; 2 sisters, Rosemary Gittins of Rockford, Minnesota, and Carol (Paul) Zimny of Cyrus, Minnesota; a sister in law, Rita Husmann of Fairfax, Manitoba, Canada; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Derald Husmann and Harry Husmann; and his parents, Ben and Wally Husmann.
