In his will, written February 26, 1796, and probated in the court session of February 1806, Stephen named his wife Margaret, left his plantation to his son Daniel, and his perishable estate to be divided among his children, Wiiliam Batchelor, Stephen Batchelor, Samuel Batchelor, Solomon Batchelor, Margaret Ward, Elizabeth Creekmore, Barsheba Creekmore, and Nanny Creekmore. His witnesses were David Pridgen, Abijah Pridgen, and Mary Pridgen
