About Stephen Chambers Henry, M.D.
Dr. Stephen C. Henry was a noted physician and surgeon. He was the first child and son of Jane Chambers and John Joseph Henry, a prominent lawyer, judge and American Revolutionary War veteran.
After Stephen Henry's graduation from the University of Pennsylvania, in 1809, he moved to Detroit where he began the practice of medicine. He served as an Army Surgeon during the War of 1812, being taken prisoner at the surrender of Detroit by General Hull. He was also active in local and State affairs.
Second marriage to Charlotte Parmalee Farrand, one of nine daughters born to Daniel Farrand and Mary Porter (daughter of Col. Asa Porter). Stephen Henry and Charlotte Farrand had one child, Daniel Farrand Henry, known as D. Farrand Henry. Dr. Henry died of cholera when his son was a year old.
Stephen Chambers Henry, was "for good causes...absolutely exclude[d] and disinherit[ed]" in his father's will.
