Stephen Arthur Kendall
Stephen Arthur Kendall, 74, passed away on June 25, 1998, doing something that he loved, hiking in the Olympic Forest. He was born in Spokane, WA, on October 12, 1923 and was a graduate of Orting High School's Class of '41. He was a member of the China-Burma-India Veterans Assn., and also the American Legion Post #167 of Orting. He enjoyed hiking and reached the summit of Mt. Rainier at the age of 62. He also enjoyed fishing, organic gardening and music. He lived in both Pierce and Thurston counties for many years. He is survived by his 3 children, Barry (and Barb) Kendall, Anne(and Mike) Strobel, and Dave Kendall; his grandchildren, Jeff (and Melissa) Strobel, April Kendall and Lisa Kendall; and great granddaughter Jordyn Strobel. Steve is also survived by close friend Dorene Rutter, and was married to Kathleen Kendall for 47 years. He is survived by brothers Don Kendall and Bob Kendall, and by sisters Joan Bruce and Rosalie Busz, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. On Sunday, July 5, at 2 PM, all friends and family are welcome to attend a gathering to remember Steve at 2821 107th Ave. E. in Edgewood, WA. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Olympic National Park, c/o N.P.S. Quinault Rescue Team, 913 North Shore Road, Amanda Park, WA 98526. Arrangements by the Coleman Mortuary, Hoquiam, WA.
