His obituary read:
The Hon. Stephen Patrick died at his home in Truxton, NY after a week long illness. His parents settled on the farm now owned by his son J.W. Patrick in the town of Cuyler. This was only four years after the formation of the town of Truxton from a part of FAbius. He spent his life here and closely identified with its political, social, agricultural and religious history. He was a highly respected sitizen and an honest man. He obtained his early education in the district school and was a techer for several winter terms. His brother, Patrick, daughter, Nellie and grand-daughter taught at the same school.
He became a faithful member and supporter of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
