i. John (sic: Stephen) who died before his father. He represented the county of Devon in parliament, 6 Henry IV  and was secretary of state to King Henry VI. In the 17th year of that sovereign's reign , he was sent into France with the Archbishop of York, the Duke of Norfolk, the Earl of Buckingham, and others, to conclude a treaty of peace.
