About Steve Don Fryar
Steve Fryar, 63, of Big Spring, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Trinity Baptist Church in Big Spring with Derrick Looney, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.
Steve was born January 31, 1953 in Big Spring, Texas to the late Neil and Betty Lou (Blissard) Fryar.
He was a graduate of Stanton High School and Tarleton State University. While at Tarleton, Steve won the 1977 World Championship in Bulldogging in the College World Championship Rodeo. He went on to make it in the National Finals Rodeo in 1980. He has also served on the Big Spring Rodeo Association Board and was inducted into the Tarleton State University Hall of Fame in 2015. He was also the Grand Marshall for the Big Spring Rodeo Parade that year.
Steve is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Fryar of Waco, and Julie Tarr and husband, Stephen of Midland; one son, Sterling Fryar and wife, Jessica of San Angelo; three grandchildren, Aizlee Tarr, Kannon Tarr, and Sloan Fryar; one brother, Danny Fryar and wife, Billie of Stanton; and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Tarleton State University Rodeo Team, PO Box T 0640, Stephenville, Texas 76402.
