Steven Siebert (1999 - 2005)
Brief overview:
Steven (6), was abducted from outside the holiday home he was staying at with his family in Plettenberg Bay around 19h00, on 23rd December 2005. Paedophile, Theunis Christiaan Olivier, a handyman originally from Zimbabwe, sexually molested Steven, and then strangled him to death.
Olivier admitted in court that his intention was to "commit acts of a sexual nature with him". When they arrived at Olivier's house he sexually molested Steven for 15 to 20 minutes. "I proceeded to kill him by strangling him to death to prevent him from later identifying me," Olivier stated. He added that Steven "did not resist in any way". He first hid Steven's body in a cupboard, and later hid his body in bushes next door to his house.
The investigating officer, Inspector John Nomdoe, said that Olivier had confessed to having sexually assaulted more than 200 young boys over the past 30 years.
At the beginning of August 2007 Olivier was sentenced to life in prison. Mr Justice Essa Moosa said the cold-blooded nature of the murder was an aggravating factor. Judge Moosa sentenced Oliver to 14 years for indecent assault and 10 years for kidnapping. All the sentences are to run concurrently.
