Steward Stamp (1935 - 2013)
Brief overview:
Steward (78), a resident of Swallowkrans, Virginia, Free State, was stabbed twice in the chest, and his body set alight, in his cabin, on 17th December 2013. His wife Patsy was in the caravan next door.
Residents of Swallowkrans tried to put the flames out with a garden hose, but it spread quickly, and by the time the fire engine arrived, the cabin was burned to the ground.
A cellphone, clothing, and a laptop were stolen, but recovered.
Sergeant Mamello Mokhuoane confirmed that a 16-year-old boy, a shepherd on a farm at Swallowkrans, was arrested.
Steward's murder is the third in a month in the Goldfields town. On 5th December, another youth (14) was arrested for the murder of Eleanor Dorfling (82), of Allanridge. She was attacked in her home, after her attackers gained access through the roof. She was drowned in the bathtub full of water. Another male, aged 22, was also arrested for her murder.
Steward's funeral service took place at the chapel at Tikwe Lodge in Virginia.
