Biography

Mike Gallwey remembered "Uncle Stu" with gratitude and affection as he gave Mike his first motorbike, an old two-stroke, which was his pride and joy. His wife was always called "Aunty Loll", she was a kind soul who was always very hospitable and generous to the motherless Gallwey children. He died a widower at War Memorial Hospital, Empangeni of cardiac failure on 4.04.1953 having been living with his daughter Laura on a small old age pension at Lot 39, Umfolozi but was buried in PMB at a cost of £49-17-0 to J C Dove, PMB. Death Notice describes him as Electrical Engineer and his only movable property was personal clothing valued at £10.
