About Sulka Margolis
She must have died as an infant or baby. Her much older brother, Asher (Isser) Margolis, named his daughter Liba Sulke in 1860. Isser Margolis was born in 1833, so 24 years older than his sister and he would have been impacted by her death. This would also explain why in Neil Rosenstein's 1984 publication, The Margolis Family, the family had no recollection of her.
Translation of her birth record:
It has happened in the village Wiejsieje (a church property) on 10/22 day of February 1857.At 8am sharp, Eliasz Murthelowicz Margolias, 45 years of age, laborer from the town of Kalwarija, who according to the testimony is residing in Wiejsieje, in the presence of a witness named Lejba Murtchelowicz-Finkielsztejn, age 57, both laborers in the village and gmina Wiejsieje presented to us a child of female gender, born yesterday of his wife Zora Toruchuwna of Te??, aged 40. The child was given the name of Sulka."
This act was read to the witnesses and signed by them and me
