About Susannah Faulkner
Not the daughter of Susanna Wells
William Joseph FAULKNER II married Susanna Wells she must have been born ca. 1747 since she died in 1847 or 1848 at the age of 101. It is thought she was the daughter of John Wells, a land surveyor of Patrick and Henry Counties, VA. They are both buried in the family graveyard. Charles Fortner in 1942 said it was still being carried for by their descendants. There are no markers.

John Wells was a land surveyor in Patrick and Henry counties in Virginia and no doubt also in neighboring North Carolina.
In 1772, his daughter Susannah, met and married prosperous trader and plantation owner, William Joseph Faulkner (aka Forkner) Jr. whose family owned land along the Virginia-North Carolina frontier. Their homestead was on Forkner's Creek, near Mount Airy, Surry County, North Carolina.
