IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Susie Whiting Haroldsen, 82, of Idaho Falls, died April 7, 2007, at her home from causes incident to age. She was under the care of Qualicare Home Nursing and Aspen Home Health & Hospice.

Susie was born May 1, 1924, at the family home in St. Johns, Arizona, to Francis Marion Whiting and Susie Jarvis Whiting. She grew up in St. Johns and graduated from St. Johns High School. After graduating from the University of Arizona she taught school at the Juarez Academy in Colonia Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, for one year. She later graduated from Brigham Young University with a Masters Degree in chemistry.

On October 8, 1952, she married Grant Ottley Haroldsen in the Mesa, Arizona, LDS Temple. They lived in Idaho Falls until 1953, when they moved for a short time to New Jersey. In 1954 they moved their family to Southern California until returning to Idaho Falls in 1967.

Susie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, including Primary Teacher, as Young Womens' Camp Director, and in the Relief Society. She and her husband, Grant, served a full-time LDS Mission to the Family History Mission and were assigned to the Utah State Prison in 1992-1993 and again in 1993-1994. Her hobbies included activities with the Bonneville County Republican Women and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, where she was an active member of the Coltman Camp. She also enjoyed following and investing in the stock market and attending to customers in their family pick-your-own garden, as well as selling their produce at the Farmer's Market on weekends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2007, at the Idaho Falls LDS St. Leon Ward, 6925 North 15th East, with Bishop Robert Kite officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
