Sylvanus was born in 1763 in Union Township, Connecuticut. He was the son of Abijah Learned and Anna Wales.Sylvanus Learned married Sally Black in 1791.
Sylvanus passed away in 1849 and is buried in Blue Mountain Cemetery, Ryegate, Vermont.

181 Sylvanus6, (Abijah5, William4, Isaac3, Isaac2, William1), of Columbia, N. H.; m., Dec. 17, 1791, Sally Black, b. April 21, 1770, at Sedgwick, Me. He d. at Ryegate, Vt, July 28, 1849. About the time of the death of James, Sylvanus moved into the house where his mother lived and agreed to support her during her life.
