Biography

Tabitha was born about 1707 in Accomack Co, Virginia and died there Before 1 Apr 1761. She was the daughter of John Hill Drummond 1680–1728 and Sabra Esther Robins 1684–1759.

Tabitha married Col. George Douglas 1693–1758 on Abt. 1725 in Accomack, Virginia Colony.

Col. George Douglas, of "Douglas Hall," Accomack County, was a Scotchman of gentle birth, and of exceptional character and attainments.

  • 31 Jan 1758, Accomack, Virginia, Will of George Douglas. It was on this date that his will was probated. Tabitha Douglas, widow of the testator, & George Holden qualified. Col. George Douglas was undoubtedly the leading lawyer of Accomack in his day. He was King's Counsel, and a burgess for thirty-two years. He died in 1758. Some of his law books were inherited by Maj. John Wise V., his grandson, and were handed down to the late John Sergeant Wise, including a set of English Reports, a Natura Brevium of the first edition, and a "Coke on Littleton," printed in 1629.

  • It was on this date that administration on the estate of Tabitha Douglas was granted to James Rule with John Coleburn securities.
