Temperance's date of birth may be October 20, 1787, born at Hopkinton, Rhode Island. She most likely is the daughter of Nicholas and Anna Hall Vincent. They had the following children: Shadrach, b. From the History of Erie County taken from a write-up on her son-in-law William McIntier who married daughter Harriet Davis: "Our subject was married in ... to Harriet Davis, b. Madison County, NY ... daughter of Oliver and Temperance [Vincent] Davis, natives of Rhode Island. ..."

Temperance and Oliver had five known children: Julia, m. Joseph Skinner, Unknown Male, Harriet, m. William McIntier, Edwin, m. Mary E. [Christian may have been her maiden name], and Andrew who died age 17, most likely never married. It is very possible that there were several other children.

1840 - Columbus Census, only head of household listed, Oliver Davis under the 50-60 age. one female age 50-60 who would be Temperance, with 3 other males, 1 under 5-10, would be Andrew about 8, 1 under 10-15 would be Edwin about 13, and 1 15-20, Unknown Male.

1850 - Columbus Census - this is the first US census to begin to list spouse, children and others living in the household. Oliver Davis 69, farmer, Temperance 62, with son Edwin 24, farmer.

1855 - Husband Oliver Davis dies.

1870 - Columbus Census, after Oliver's death, we find Temperance age 82, born RI, living with daughter Harriet McIntryre, age 49 and her husband William, age 55, along with grandchildren, Andrew 19, Calista 15, Dette, 8 and Fred 6, all born PA.
