About Thelma Lucille Bridgewater
Thelma Lucille Bridgewater, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in San Antonio, TX. She was born in Fort Scott, KS. She and her husband, Myrl L. Bridgewater were part of the greatest generation. Thelma was a war bride. The next day her husband headed out to San Francisco to enter World War II.
As a devoted wife, she supported Myrl's work with AT&T for over forty years, which allowed them to live in many beautiful cities throughout the country. Thelma was a wonderful artist and entered many art shows. For the last 18 years, she served God as a member of San Pedro Presbyterian Church.
Thelma was preceded in death by her daughter, Jody Bridgewater Thyberg, age 23, who was tragically killed by a drunk driver. It was through this tragedy that her mother and father became charter members of RID Remove Intoxicated Drivers, an organization that blended into MADD.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Myrl Bridgewater; son, Patrick Lee Bridgewater and wife, June; grandson, Matthew Ryan Bridgewater; granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Bridgewater; sister, Opal Van Liew of Missouri.
