Buying trips to Western Kansas in 1890s. To Kansas City from Carthage, 1883. Widowed after birth of son Bert, quickly re-married his brother's niece (widowed in Baltimore). Took family to visit German family in 1906. Residence at 3542 Tracy adjoined M. Lyon house on Forest (block South of Armour on corner). House saved from destruction and nicely refurbished.
