About Theodore Townsend
THEODORE TOWNSEND And now with a nearer at home sense comes the news of the death away from home of Mr Theodore Townsend Almost my next door neighbor I used to see him constantly as he went to and came from his daily round of duty or as he illustrated to the full the ideal relations of his married life And I confess I feel that in going back to Albany it will be a loss of one of its attractions to miss the cordiality of his gracious greetings and the pleasure of my association with him Bearing one of Albany's oldest and most honourable names he honoured it in his private life and in his public service As warden of the old parish of St Peter's and its representative often in our Diocesan Conventions he filled out the round of human service in his religious life as a faithful servant of Jesus Christ It seems only yesterday that he wrote me a kindly and gracious reply to my note of sympathy about the death of his brother and mine the Rev John Townsend once Chancellor of our Cathedral and now with the severance in seeming of the earthly tie has come to them the closer communion of the higher life May their souls rejoice and be freshed in the multitude of its peace WCDFT Journal of the Proceedings of the Annual Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Albany
