Fought in first calvary charge of Civil War, as member of Company A, 12th Regiment, Ill. Volunteers.
Daughter, Mrs. D. A. Brown survived Theron. She lived in Parsons, Kansas. Daisy and Charles (Marshall, Missouri) , other children, also survived father. Theron died of "apoplexy" and dropped dead on a Tuesday morning. Converted at Salvation Army meeting and joined M. E. Church, South, where he was a regular member. Had 8 children but only four survived him, including Daisy Taylor, my grandmother.
Theron also had one son who died in early manhood and another who went to a home for the feeble minded.

Theron's mother died only five months after his birth; she was only 42. John then married Irene Rogers on October 15, 1863.
