About Thomas Alexander, Sawwright in Glasgow
THOMAS ALEXANDER
Sawwright in Glasgow
Fake Genealogy
The Reverend John E. Alexander identified a man named Thomas Alexander as the father of his ancestor and namesake, John Alexander of Glasgow. Descendants, p. 115 According to Appalachian Aristocracy: "Thomas was a devout presbyterian who came to Ulster or Northern Ireland in 1652 and settled in County Donegal" but it hardly seems possible that Thomas Alexander here treated is his ancestor, for we know that he had a daughter named Jonet whose baptism was registered at Glasgow on 14 March 1689, and a son named John whose baptism was registered there on 27 September 1691.
From the foregoing facts it follows that Thomas Alexander, here treated, cannot be the same person as Thomas Alexander, senior, Resident of Cunningham Manor in Donegal
The Question of Identity
The parents of Thomas Alexander here treated, have not been identified. Consequently, a date and place of birth cannot be identified for him.
Death
A date and place of death has not been identified for Thomas Alexander, here treated. However, in her burial record dated 6 May 1705 his wife Marion Peadie is identified as the widow of Thomas Alexander, sawright, at it seems that he must have died before this date. Marriage
Thomas Alexander married Marion Peadie A record of the marriage has not been found, but there can be no doubt that he and Marion were lawfully married. This is confirmed by the baptismal record of their daughter Janet dated 14 March 1689, [NRS: OPR.644/1/7] Image of Baptismal Record and the baptismal record of their son John dated 27 September 1691.
