About Thomas Joseph Archer
Thomas was a Civil War Soldier. He had enlisted at Lebanon, Laclede County, Missouri on Apr 10, 1863 and was in Captain Ch. Ruby's 6th Regimentt Provisional E.M.M. Volunteers, and was discharged Feb 28, 1864.
Martha and Thomas had seven children:
William C. "Bill" born May, 1872, died after Jan 31, 1940
Charles M. born Jul 1, 1873, died on Nov 1, 1956
Sarah Sophia born Dec 3, 1875, died after Jan 31, 1940
Daniel Boone born May 2, 1876, died after Jan 31, 1940
Lottie Etheline born Aug 7, 1878, died after Dec 8, 1898
Effie A. "Fee" born Apr 5, 1882, died after Jan 1, 1913
John T. born Jun 6, 1884, died after Sep 1, 1890
Thomas Archer died March 5, 1885, and once again Martha was left a widow with small children.
Because she had six children under the age of ten and no means of support, the court, as it often did in those days, appointed a guardian for them. Thomas' brother John M. Archer was appointed guardian for the children per Civil War Pension Application # 530,835.
