Generation No. 2 2. JOHN2 BALDWIN (JOHN1)1 died 1684. He married (1) MARY WILKENS, daughter of JOHN WILKENS and BRIDGET CRAFT. She died Bef. 1684. He married (2) ELIZABETH UNKNOWN. She died January 14, 1691. Notes for JOHN BALDWIN: The first record of John Baldwin is March 18, 1648/49, when he patented three hundred acres in Northampton County, Virginia, claiming himself as a headright. This land was on Occohannache and Compekeeke Creeks. Notes for ELIZABETH UNKNOWN: Joined her husband, John, in his affiliation with the Quakers. Notes for THOMAS BALDWIN: It must have been a love match as Anne brought neither money nor prestige to the marriage. Father Thomas died in Debtor's Prison in February 1762. He was an unsuccessful planter. His wife, Agnes, ran a tavern or ordinary in Annapolis, Maryland. Chase prosecuted her for selling rum to servants in 1765. She was acquitted.
