Available at Ancestry.com</ref>:In the name of God Amen <b>I Thomas Beaty Sr of the State of North Carolina & County of Lincoln</b> being of sound & perfect mind & memory (blessed by God) do this fourth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & thirty one make & publish this my last will & testament in manner following that is to say 1st I give & bequeath unto <b>my son Thomas</b> Eighty three acres of land the same whereon he lives & ten dollars in money, 2nd I give & bequeath unto <b>my son John</b> about Seventy eight acres of land the place whereon he now lives during his life & after his death to fall to his heirs at law & thirty dollars in money & also eight dollars to buy <b>his daughter Parnilla Adaline</b> a saddle when she arrives at twelve years of age 3rd I will & bequeath to <b>my two sons James & Alfred</b> one hundred & sixty six acres of my old tract whereon I now live including such part of my meadow land as will be to the right hand of a line running from the fence at the mouth of a ditch along the right hand side of the old meadow to the lower end of said old meadow then straight line to Conners corner at the forks of the creek to be divided equally between them 4th I will & bequeath unto <b>my wife Sarah</b> during her life or widowhood the Martin tract & the balance of my old place after deducting the hundred & sixty six acres as above together with the old meadow & also during her life or widowhood to have <b>Pat & Sarah</b> & two horses Cobby & Jolly & all my stock of cattle sheep & hogs & all my farming tools & if <b>Pat</b> should out live her I will that she should choose her own leave among my children & after her death or widowhood the land and all the other property to fall to <b>my two sons Franklin & Edmond</b> equally. 5th I will & bequeath to <b>my daughter Carolina</b> one hundred dollars in money 6th I will & bequeath to <b>my daughter Avaline</b> 1 bed & furniture and white faced cow & calf & one hundred dollars in money 7th I will & order <b>Joe</b> and the waggon to be sold at twelve months credit & the money to go to pay off my debts & any balance of debts to be satisfied out of the crop in the fall & other property above willed to my wife which she may think best to spare & I will & bequeath to <b>my son Alfred</b> a sorrel mare called Nance 9th And I hereby make and ordain <b>my worthy friend Aleaxander McCorkle</b> executer of this my last will & testament In witness whereof <b>I the said Thomas Beaty Sr</b> have to this my last will & testament set my hand & seal the day & year above written Signed sealed published & declared by the said Thomas Beaty Sr the testator as his last will & testament in the presence of us who were present at the time of signing & sealing thereof
