About Thomas Becher
The will of Lionel Becher of Sherkin has unfortunately been lost, but the surviving abstract refers to his second son Edward Becher, so it has been known for some time that there was an older son.
Deed 383 533 254795 Dated 9 March 1780 names Thomas Becher as the eldest son of Lionel Becher & having deceased without leaving male issue. A 1756 deed for the marriage of Edward Becher describes him as the second son of Lionel Becher so it implies that Thomas Becher was still living then.
Deed 383 533 254795 9 March 1786. ...of Lionel Becher during his natural life returning to Thomas Becher his eldest son intail male and remainder to the said Edward Becher during his natural life with impeachment of waste, remainder to the first and every other son of said Edward by said Jane intail male reciting that Lionel was possesed of sev’l other lands in South Carbery and reciting that said Lionel was dead and said Thomas was dead and without having left any issue male and recites that said Jane Bousfield was dead
It is likely that Thomas Becher had died before 1765 as he is not named or mentioned in his father's will [although implied by the description of his brother Edward as the second son]
