About Thomas Benjamin Black

Not the same as Thomas G. Black

Thomas Black died 15 MAR 1779. He was the son of David Black.

His wife's first name was Elizabeth. They had at least three children (Rachel, Ephraim, and Joseph) (and perhaps Martha & Esther) before Thomas died in 1779.



Bought a tract of 200 acres on 11/23/1762 in the neighborhood of the Shoal Bridge near Cherryville adjoining a tract of land belonging to Valentine Mauney. He only lived there for two or three years. He then moved to a farm near Shelby, N. C. On 4/25/1767 he received a grant of land on bothsidesof the First Little Broad River which he and his wife Elizabeth sold to Robert Cottonwood of Tryon County on 1/20/1771 (Lincon Co. deed book 1 p.412)
