Thomas Burns is Not Robert Burns' the poet's son. Might be Robert's son Robert Burns Clow son. His mother was Janet "Jenny" Clow. The other son Robert who was born to Robert Burns the poet Jean "Bonnie" (Armour) Burns Robert Burns Jr was never married to an Elizabeth. His wives were Anne (Sherwood) Burns and Emma Bland. Robert Burns Jr's son Robert Burns III was married to a Mary Campbell. So if he fits into Robert Burns the poet's children or grand children I can't find any record of him.
