THOMAS SHERMAN CACKLER

Thomas Sherman Cackler, son of Isaac and Sarah Cackler, was born near Liberty Center, Warren county, Iowa, March 11, 1882, and passed from this life at his home near Oakley, Iowa, Oct. 15, 1950, at the age of 68 years, seven months and four days.

On Feb. 25, 1914, he was united in marriage to Erma A. Crooks, and to this union four children were born, Mrs. Berniece Borrall, of Indianola; Wayne, of Chariton; and Everett and Olin, both of Entiat, Wash.

Tom is survived by his wife, Erma, the four children, three sisters, Mrs. Amanda Mowery and Mrs. Effie Goben, of Lucas, and Mrs. Dean Phillips, of Des Moines, two half-brothers, John Roberts, of Milwaukee, Wis., and Ed Roberts, of Lucas. Also nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.

Tom was well known by all from Lucas and Warren counties. He was a good father and husband and was always ready to help his friends and neighbors. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 18, 1950, at 2 p.m. at the Graceland church near Norwood, conducted by Rev. Robert Zimmerman, of Lovilia, Iowa. Burial was at the Graceland cemetery. Pall bearers were Wilford Crooks, Alfred Medearis, Parmer Mitchell, Johnnie Borrall, Fred Starkey and Clarence Crooks.
