Thomas Clapham

Thomas lived in a house in Felsted with three open hearth’s as the Hearth Tax returns of 1662 indicate. He farmed 15 acres of land called Hickwrites in Old Sailing, Essex which in his will he bequeathed to his wife Martha together with his house which upon her death should pass to his eldest son George.

Buried at Little Dunmow 24th October 1646, will dated 4th June 1646, proved 30th January 1647, Arch. Ct. of Mdsx, Essex & Herts, available from Chelmsford Records Office/Library.
