Thomas must have died prior to 1867 as when his father Gilbert Sr. passed in 1867, his estate was left to Gilbert, a minor, Gilbert Sr's grandson. Gilbert Sr's other son Gilbert had died after three brief years of marriage and one child Thomas born 1847 the year he passed away. William Hutchinson is mentioned in the will, neatly solving the question of whether Gilbert Sr's son married a Jame Brunton or Jane Hutchinson. One may suppose that Jane Corner nee Hutchinson raised her son Thomas with her brother jn law's children Gilbert and Esther, with the help of her brother William and the Hutchinson family.
