About Thomas Edward Hobbs

On 1916 Canada Census, Thomas is found to be living at Rosser, a rural municipality lying adjacent to the NW side of Winnipeg. Living with him: his wife, Letitia, son James, daughter Eliza, lodger Stella Briggs, servant Nicholas Kadnah, and Russel Dennet - orphaned son of Elizabeth and George Dennet.

Born in Ontario, married in Paisley Ontario, moved to Titusville, PA, then moved to ND when the rest of the family moved there in 1880-1881. Took up a homestead on the NW quarter of section 8 in Walshville township. There they lived and raised their family. All but the first two were born in ND. In 1900 or 1901, the whole family moved to Manitoba, near the town of Meadows, about 22 miles west of Winnipeg. As written by James Nelson McLeod: "I called on them in 1919 and found both Tom and Letitia well. Living with them were: Jim, who was running the farm, Eliza, and George Dennet's boy Russell. The rest of the family were living in different parts of Western Canada."
