About Thomas Föhl (c)
From my early youth on, let's say from 1959/1960, I was with enthousiasm interested in the arts, in european history and in social relations. I studied all these things with the greatest intense. And for all this I travelled for all my life all around the world.
Became a father very young, I worked first from 1978/79 on as a manager for a printing firm as an editor and a producer, later most of the time as a manager.
After 1983/84 I worked in the cultural fields of museums in different german towns, curated and organised about 50 exhibtions, worked in the production of about 100 catalogues and a lot of other books, that I not only wrote, lectured or corrected, but I also designed a lot of them as a typographer.
From 1974 on I wrote more than 200 articles related to the arts of the 19th and the early 20th century, related to graphic-arts (here mostly of the 18th and the early 19th century). From the mid-1980th I discovered for myself the modern design, beginning in the period of the english arts & crafts movement and I wrote about this a lot. I published myself more than 15 own books.
I did a lot of research and was on tour worldwide for these different matters and objects of research.
I'm worldwide reknown as an expert for several artists, especially for painters of the Neoimpressionism like Curt Herrmann, Paul Baum, Paul Signac, Théo van Rysselberghe etc., the German Expressionism and for designers and architects like Henry van de Velde, Peter Behrens, Richard Riemerschmid and some more. The last years I'm also researching about the influence of Friedrich Nietzsche and I actually published the letter-exchange of Nietzsches sister, Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche with Harry Count Kessler. They both exchanged about 800 letters and my newest book is a two volume edition with nearly 2.000 pages. The book is on the market since October 9, 2013.
I'm also engaged in the german-jewish relations and since the mid 1980th I'm in close contacts with a lot of jewish friends and their families in the US, the UK, in Canada, in South-Africa and so on, whose families emigrated from Germany in the years after 1933.
Connected to the different theories of anarchism since the late 1960th, I feel that I'm a liberal and extreme open minded individual, relating to the human rights. I'm an anarchist in my very special way!!
This is a very small profile of my own!!
