  • Note found on Ancestry Message Board for Chessers: I have gone as far as Abraham who was born in Noord - Holland Amsterdam. He married Amanda Foster who was born in Ireland They were married in the late 1700s.

Her father was Thomas Natalis Foster II b: ABT 1725 in Essex County Virginia died circa 1764 in Spotsylvania County, VA. Her mother was Dorothy Riona Burgh b: Sept 5 1731 in Ireland.

They (Abraham & Amanda) only have one son listed as Isreal [sic - possibly Israel] Chesser .

Amanda's siblings were :

  1. Thomas Eavan Foster B ABT 1748
  2. Dudley Adam Foster b ABT 1756
  3. Tara Valentine Burgh 1762

Her father was married prior to Dorothy Gatewood B ABT 1726 in VA, the daughter of Dorothy Dudley & Henry Gatewood. She died after 1784 in Spotsylvania County, VA. They were divorced and Dorothy Amanda's mother was his second wife.

The Chesser early history goes back to Anglo - Saxon culture of Britain. Some went to England others to Ireland. Medieval scribes and Churches recorded names as they sounded resulting in multiple variations of spelling .

My thought was maybe Abraham moved to Ireland where he met Amanda? Just a thought . Maybe onto Virginia near her family later ? Will keep you informed of anything I find . Please let me know what if anything you find . Thanks Yvonne
