About Thomas Frowyk


Thomas Frowick died without issue during his father's lifetime, so his father Henry Frowick left the moiety of North Mymms manor to his daughter, Elizabeth, and her children by John Coningsby, in his will, dated 1527. Henry and Anne Knolles his wife were buried in the Frowyk Chantry in the church of St Giles, South Mimms.

Mary Sandys was born c1510 in England. Her parents were William, Lord Sandys of the Vine Chamberlain to Henry VIII and Margaret Bray. [1]

She married three times.

Frowyk

m.1 : Thomas Frowyk (m c1520). Henry Frowyk’s son Thomas married Mary, daughter of Sir William Sandys, and died without issue in 1523. By will proved in 1527, Henry left his estates to his daughter Elizabeth and the children of her first husband John Coningsby. It was not until 1547, however, that Elizabeth recovered Old Fold from John Palmer and his wife Mary, whose first husband had been Thomas Frowyk. [2]

Henry and Anne had two children - a son, Thomas, who married Mary, daughter of Sir William Sandys, and a daughter Elizabeth who married John Coningsby of Lincoln. “... the shields on the tomb in the Chantry Chapel indicate that the effigy is the offspring of a Frowyke and a Knolles, so therefore not Henry, but his son, Thomas d.1523. ”
