Hancock, May 5.- Yesterday morning Thomas Hicks, a miner in the Franklin mine, was instantly killed by the explosion of a charge in a missed hole. The particulars are as follows: Some 5 or 6 holes had been charged and fired simultaneously, but by the number of reports heard, the miners knew that one hole had missed. After the smoke cleared away, Thomas Hicks and his partners went to discover the missed hole, and finding it, Hicks sent his partners after a fresh cartridge to explode the charge in the hole. They had scarcely left him when the explosion took place. The deceased was married on the 23rd day of last month to Miss Louisa Condon, and had therefore been married but 10 days.
