Thomas Hopper

Biography

Thomas Hopper was born in 1712 in Virginia, Colonial America. His parents were David Hopper, Jr and Elizabeth Anna Hopper (Freeman).

Thomas married Annah Elizabeth Hopper (Freeman). Together they had the following children:

1. Charles Hopper of Hopper's Ford;
2. William Hopper;
3. Joshua Hopper ? ;
4. John Hopper;
5. Archibald Hopper;
6. Thomas Hopper, Jr.;
7. Rebeccah Hopper;
8. Joseph Hopper;
9. Nancy Hopper;
10. Harmon Hopper.

He died on October 12, 1777 in Caswell County, North Carolina, United States.

3.Thomas Hopper Jr. b-1743 d-1-1-1853. He married Nancy Stewart I have 2 sons for them as Samuel married Louisa Elizabeth Ritchie (more info on them and kids and so on)and Robert A. Hopper married Susannah Tarpley Oldham (have their kids and so on)

4. archibald Hopper b-1745 on 1790 Randolph Cen

5. rebeccah Hopper b-1747 married a known Quaker Joseph Haskitt

6. Joseph Hopper b-1749

7. nancy Hopper b-1750 married unk McIntosh has son Benjamin named in her father's will.

8. Mary b-1752

9.George Hopper b-1754 married with 8 kids 1790 burke Nc Cen.

10.Harmon Hopper b-1756 d-2-28-1844 Tn. married Sara Cole

There is a Hopper Family Book that states thomas Hopper Sr. and wife Annah were residing in Culpepper Co Va where he purchased 200 acres of land from Robert Slaughter. While ther, thomas made his will where at least 4 of his sons were residing near each other. On 8-17-1757 Thomas and Annah sold to Edward Hore of Stafford Co Va the above 200 acres of land, indicating this was about the time they left that area. In 1777 Thomas and Anah were living in Caswell(now Rockingham) Nc. This book has Hopper lines listed all the way to 1900's. I have copies of wills, letters, marriages, pic of headstones and so on for verification. Hope this helps someone. There is a Hopper Family Book that states Thomas Hopper Sr. is the earliest ancestor on record with the Hopper name. Dec 1777 Caswell NC, Thomas Hopper deceased. Gives Grandson Benjamin McIntosh 1 cow & calf, 1 sow & pigs, 1 half bed & 2 sheets. Thomas' mark is large H. Wife Ann, son William and other sons & daughters. Wit: Robert Middleton, Bendick Middleton, Thos. Hopper, Henry Hopper. (FHL Film # 18418 Caswell NC Wills & Inventories)
