A Patriot of the American Revolution for MASSACHUSETTS with the rank of Captain. DAR Ancestor # A060126

In the American War of Independence, Thomas Ingersoll fought on the rebel side, but in 1795 he immigrated to Upper Canada where he had obtained a township grant for settlement. His farm became the site of the modern town of Ingersoll. He ran a tavern at Queenston until his township (Oxford-upon-the-Thames) was surveyed.

Went to Great Barrington about 1744; he was a hatter, a constable, a tax-collector.
