Henry Jarrett (Snr) had run a property on the Berry Estate at Broughton Ck. This was probably under a lease arrangement that expired either on his death or sometime before. There is no record of Jarrett holdings on the estate on the 1897 map so it is likely that the lack of land to hold was probably one of the impetus for the family to move to Nth NSW. Other family members had already moved up there so the lack of land and the promise of new land up north probably drove them to move. He moved to Northern NSW sometime before 1905 and was living in Ballina when his son Walter moved north in 1907 and purchased Walter purchased Talofa near Bangalow in 1911.
