About Thomas Johnson
Griffith’s father, Thomas Johnson, son of Valentine Johnson, was a member of Captain Stewart’s Light Horse Body Guards during the time of the French and Indian War.
His son Griffith Johnson was born on March 5, 1734 in Virginia (a region which was to later become Allegheny County, Maryland. He married John Johnson’s mother Elizabeth Thomas (b. 1732), a Quaker of Montgomery County (Maryland) in 1759.
