About Thomas Cletus Malone

Son of John Malone [born ca. 1765; last noted as living in Washington Co., Kentucky, in 1820] and Ann "Nancy" Earls [daughter of Thomas Earles (b. 1742, d. 3 Oct. 1839 Crocus, Adair Co., Kentucky); she was born North Carolina; died 18 Sept. 1839 Taylor Co., Kentucky]. Parents John and Nancy Malone were married 17 Sept. 1787 in Warren County, North Carolina; they arrived in what was then Washington County, Kentucky about 1793. They lived near the town of Bradfordsville, which in now in Marion County, Kentucky.

Thomas Malone married Elizabeth Vest, 1825, Springfield, Washington County Kentucky. They left Kentucky for what was then Crawford County, Missouri (now Meramec Township, Phelps County, Missouri) about 1834. A sister, Mary "Polly" Malone Adams with her husband Andrew Adams and family also arrived in the area about the same time. There may have been another sister, Charlotte Malone Adams (1811-ca. 1862), with her husband William Adams (brother of Andrew), and their family, who also came into the same area of Missouri at an earlier date. A farmer, Thomas received several land grants during the 1850's and 1860's.

[Records show that a Thomas and Elizabeth Malone divorced in Feb. 1860, though subsequent records show them living together. It has been discovered that there was another couple in the same county also named Thomas and Elizabeth Malone, and the divorce record may have been for that couple].

The last time they are noted on any record is the United States Census, information collected June 1880, Meramec Township, Phelps County, Missouri. The date of death for both is given to be 1880 (this is presently uncertain). While their place of burial is uncertain, family research believes it to be Asher Cemetery.

Children: Thomas Malone, Jr. [b. Dec. 1826 in KY, appears to have died before 1840].

Lucinda Malone [born about 1829 in KY, found living with her parents on every census through 1880 when she is last noted].
