Death's Doings.

One of the oldest and most respectable citizens of Thomas County, Thomas G. Mitchell, died on the 22nd inst., at the age of 67 years.—He had been an invalid for several years, and only recently returned from Tennessee, where he had been in hope of improving his health. Mr. Mitchell lived a Universalist to within a few days of his death when he was converted to the orthodox faith, and to the great joy of his family renounced Universalism and embraced true Christianity.

Obituary.

Mr. Thomas G. Mitchell departed this life on the 22d inst., at the home of Dr. Bruce, in Thomasville in his 67th year. He had for years been afflicted with cancer which caused
his death. One thing may be said of Mr. Mitchell, he was truly an honest man and a good citizen, and in his last days we found him to be a true child of God.

His view in regard to religion in past life was peculiar to himself, but some few weeks before his death he found that he was mistaken in his views, and laid them all aside, and laid himself down at the feet of Christ by repentance and faith in him, and there found peace with God in Christ, and died happy in the love of God. He told his aged wife that he could see the angels round his bed waiting to conduct him into the presence of that blessed Savior, who had blest him with pardon and filled him with love, where he should
be free from pain and suffering, and with them praise God for ever and ever.

He has left an aged companion, who has traveled with him through the cares and sorrows of life, to mourn his loss with his children, whom he loved and for whom he provided well in life, with many relatives and friends. But they are assured that he rests with the good in Heaven.

May the God of all grace be the friend and guide of his companion and children and bring them to the same Heaven of rest and repose. Mr. Mitchell had Jived in this county more than thirty years.
