About Thomas Harrison Morris

Harrison Morris, Sr., 74, (December 4, 1794 – January 20, 1867) died of paralysis at the residence of W. B. Morris near Hillsboro, Henry County. Uncle Harry, as he was familiarly called, by all his friends, was born in Woodford County, KY; in which county he lived until he was married to Miss Millie Forbitt. He soon after his marriage, moved to, and settled in Henry County, some five miles west of New Castle, where he continued to live until a year or so ago. He then left the old homestead, and made his principal home at his son Briant’s; although he visited among his children considerable during the last year or two of his earthly pilgrimage, at which place he breathed his last on the night of January 20th.

Bro. Morris filled the office of deacon for several years in the Hillsboro Church. He and his wife joined the church about the close of the memorable revival of Bro. John Willson, in New Castle, in the year 1835. They, however, did not make known their feelings until the following church meeting at Hillsboro, when they were received and baptized by that good and venerable man of God, Elder J. A. McGuire, who for many years served the Church as pastor from its organization up to 1851 or 52; when he emigrated to the state of Louisiana.

He was buried in the Morris Family Cemetery #1.
