Thomas Aaron Nelson

Thomas Aaron Nelson was born in Fauquier County, Virginia in the Fall of 1835. He enlisted in the Confederate Army on March 12, 1862 joining the 6th Virginia Cavalry Reg't., Company H. He was wounded on July 3, 1863 at Fairfield, Pennsylvania (Battle of Gettysburg). He became a POW on July 21, 1863 at Chester Gap. Exchanged February 12, 1865 from Pt. Lookout. Paroled April 22, 1865 at Winchester, Virginia, he was 29 years old. He was a farmer after the War at Dudie, Fauquier Co., Virginia. Private Nelson died on August 14, 1915 at the Lee Camp Soldier's Home in Richmond, Virginia.
