Rev. Thomas Odell (1752-1827) was the son of James & Martha (Prather) Odell of Maryland. His first marriage was to Elizabeth Garrett, daughter of John Garrett (NSDAR #A044201). Elizabeth died in the early years of the Revolutionary War after bearing one child, Nathan Garrett Odell (Sr.), on 04 Nov. 1772 in Queen Anne's Co., Maryland. Nathan Garrett Odell (Sr.) was married 05 Feb 1794 in Berkeley Co., Virginia (now West Virginia), to Rebecca Sharp (occasionally: "Sharp Knife"). The couple reared their 9 children in Ashland and Wayne Counties, Ohio, before settling in Cass County, Michigan, where both Nathan and Rebecca died between Oct. & Dec. 1835.

Following the Revolutionary War, Rev. Thomas Odell married Grace Austin. Thomas and Grace had a further 11 children in Berkeley County, (now) West Virginia, before the family's migration into Ohio. Rev. Thomas Odell is a patriot of the Revolutionary War (NSDAR #A085630).
