In Memoriam At 9:15 o'clock last Wednesday morning Mr. Thomas Pierce departed this life, aged 80 years and 5 month. Mr. Pierce was born in North Carolina, but had been a pioneer in Kentucky and Illinois before coming to Kansas, fifteen years ago. He was a man of sterling integrity and broad humanitarian principles. He was an active church member, being connected with the M.E. Church at this place, and is sincerely mourned by the entire community. The funeral was held at the residence of his son-in-law, Wesley Zimmerman, in Otter Township, Cowley County, with whom the old gentleman had lived for some time. The surviving children are Wm. Pierce, Mrs. Eldridge Nelson, Mrs. Emmanuel Zimmerman, and Mrs Wesley Zimmerman. Mrs. Pierce died about a year ago and was buried on the old farm, and now "Uncle Tommy" as he was familiarly called, has been laid to rest by her side.
