It was with sadness that I read the three obits for Thomas M. Powell. He hung himself after having problems that followed him from Bartholomew County, Indiana. The Liberty Review, The Coffeyville Journal and The Cherryvale Republic all had stories. He was at a friend's home in Coffeyville. The remains were accompanied to Cherryvalle by several members of the A. O. U. W. and taken charge of by Cherryvale Lodge, of which he was a member. He married Caroline R. Reed 28 February 1878 in Bartholomew County, Indiana.
