Thomas Prime

Please DO NOT merge this profile with others unless you have clear evidence of the same individual from Thriplow (with citations to records, not other trees !!!). There was most likely more than one man named Thomas Prime living in Cambridgeshire in the mid to late 1500's.

This Thomas Pryme was christened 30 December 1547 in Thriplow, Cambridgeshire. He was possibly the son of Nicholas Pryme b.c. 1520 in Thriplow (* not proven!). Most researchers name his wife Agnes (*not proven).

Some researchers suggest that he was the Thomas Pryme who married Joan Manning 1557 in Great Shelford, Cambridgeshire, and that this Joan Manning was the daughter of John Manning of Downe in Kent.

This is highly unlikely, as Thomas Pryme of Thriplow would have only been about 10 years old in 1557. Even if christened late and born closer to 1440, Joan Manning of Downe was born c.1530 (probably earlier if her mother was born 1482) - making her at least 10 years older than Thomas Pryme of Thriplow.

The Thomas Pryme who christened three children 1559-1565 in Great Shelford was almost certainly a different individual to the Thomas Pryme who christened at least four children 1564-1574 in Thriplow.
